Medicare

What 's Medicare?

Medicare is a federal health insurance program created in 1965. It was originally designed for people 65 and older, but later expanded to include individuals with certain disabilities and those with end-stage kidney disease.

Medicare is divided into several parts, each covering different services:

  • Part A – Hospital coverage

  • Part B – Medical and preventive care

  • Part D – Prescription drug coverage

  • Part C (Medicare Advantage) – Combines Parts A and B, often with Part D, into a single plan

  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) – Helps pay costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like copays and deductibles
